Get Your ‘Staches Ready Flyers Fans

Philadelphians, get your moustaches ready.

The Flyers and Bruins have a long and storied rivalry that goes back to their earliest days and of the legendary Broad Street Bullies of the 1970s. The Flyers even won the first of their two cups at the expense of Boston.

The B’s were leading the Flyers three games to one and heading back to Bean Town for Game 5 Monday. Suddenly the stakes were turned up a few notches.

The spark plug? A billboard outside of the TD Garden in Boston. The ad takes a shot, not so much at the Flyers but rather their fans -- specifically the Orange and Black’s female fans.

“Never ever date a Flyers fan. Even if she shaves her moustache,” the ad reads.

Are you kidding me?

And to make matters more absurd the ad features the Bruins’ mascot Bear and is seemingly sponsored by the team.

The B’s should've closed the deal on this series Friday or Monday Night, but instead, there is now a sense of desperation. Two of their top players are injured and out -- Marco Sturm and David Krejci -- and their bench isn't that deep.

And with the Flyers' 4-0 shutout in Boston Monday night, they'll have to pay the price when they return to Philly. They'll return to Philly to find Flyers fans of all ages, male or female sporting one common thing -- moustaches.

That’s right, when Game 6 happens Wednesday night, fans should plan on wearing mustaches. Consider it a new take on the traditional playoff beard.
