Cats Win While Flyers, 76ers, Hawks & Explorers Lose

A day after the Eagles memorable 59-28 knockout of the Redskins Philly teams didn’t fair so well on the ice, court and field.

Let’s start with the positive from Tuesday.

The Top-10 ranked Villanova Wildcats improved to 2-0 with an 84-47 rout of Marist in the opening round of the NIT Season Tip-Off.

That’s where the good news ends.

The Flyers were shutout 3-0 in Montreal despite 25 saves from goalie Sergei Bobrovsky.

On the gridiron: a fourth-quarter rally wasn’t enough for Temple to beat MAC rivals Ohio as the Bobcats held on for a 31-23 win over the Owls. The loss dropped the Owls to 5-2 in the MAC and virtually ended Al Golden’s team’s hopes of a conference title.

On the hardwood: the Andre Iguodala-less Sixers dropped their fourth-straight game -- 101-93 at Cleveland. Thaddeus Young had 17 and Evan Turner put up 16 points in the loss.

LaSalle (1-1) put up a valiant effort in a 74-64 loss at No. 17-ranked Baylor as center Aaric Murray scored 17 while grabbing nine boards and five steals.

St. Joseph’s dropped to 0-2 after falling 66-57 at Penn State.
