Eagles Fall Short Against G-Men

Eagles pushed around in 36-31 loss

The Philadelphia Eagles were outmuscled and outscored as they lost to the New York Giants 36-31.

The Giants controlled the clock holding the ball for nearly 39 minutes by using the rushing game.

The three-headed monster of Brandon Jacobs, Derrick Ward and Ahmad Bradshaw combined for 217 yards against the Birds.

The Eagles used turnovers to keep up with the Giants converting touchdowns after a Mike Patterson fumble recovery and interception.

With time winding down in the fourth quarter the Eagles failed to convert on 4th and 1 near midfield turning the ball over on downs. The play was just the latest in a slew of short yardage failures for the Birds offense.

The Eagles running attack was basically a no show all night as the Giants held Brian Westbrook to only 26 yards on 13 carries. Quarterback Donovan McNabb was actually the Eagles leading rusher scrambling for 35 yards.

The loss puts the Eagles at 5-4 and in a last place tie with the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East.

The Giants in the meantime seem headed for the NFC East crown with an 8-1 record.
