Drexel Dragons Lose to ODU

Old Dominion closed the first half with a 19-3 run and went on to defeat Drexel, 63-53. The loss dropped the Dragons to 12-10 overall and 8-5 in league play. The Monarchs moved into a tie with Drexel in the CAA and are now 15-8 on the season.

Jamie Harris scored a career-high 20 points in the loss for the Dragons. The sophomore from New York nailed six three-pointers and had a pair of steals. Harris had 17 of his points in the second half as Drexel tried to chip away at the Monarchs lead. Gerald Colds added 14 points. The Dragons made a season-high eight three-pointers in the game, but shot just 32 percent overall from the floor.

Gerald Lee scored 13 of his game-high 23 points in the first half as the Monarchs opened up a 26-14 lead. ODU held the Dragons to just one field goal in the final 13:48 of the first half. Drexel made just five of its 25 shots from the floor in the first 20 minutes and was unable to cut the lead to less than eight points the rest of the way.

ODU shot 48 percent from the floor and kept the game out of reach by making their free throws. The Monarchs knocked were 80 percent from the line and made 17 of their 20 attempts in the final 20 minutes.

The Dragons travel to Boston on Wednesday night to face Northeastern. The Huskies are tied for first place in the CAA. The game will be played at Matthews Arena at 7 p.m.
