DeSean Wants to Get Paid

Eagles wideout looking for new deal after impressive Pro Bowl

After Sunday night’s glorified touch-football game otherwise known as the Pro Bowl, it’s almost inevitable that DeSean Jackson will receive a fresh fat contract from the Eagles within the coming months.

The 23-year-old, who once again proved to any doubters that he’s one of the most explosive players in football, scored twice for the NFC squad in their 41-34 loss.

"That was awesome, for a first Pro Bowl game," Jackson said. "I was still able to put on a show -- we all put on a show."

D-Jax wound up grabbing six balls for 101 yards. Both of his touchdowns were via the wide-receiver screen, with a seven-yarder from Packers QB Aaron Rodgers, and a 58-yarder from his normal signal caller Donovan McNabb.

There was no need to adjust your TV set on the 58-yard flight. The blur that simply outran everyone in Miami was, indeed, Jackson.

"It's always good to get him. He had a great year," McNabb told Philly.com of the Eagle connection. Add the fact that David Akers booted the extra point and you could call that one a Birds trifecta.

Jackson, who hired "No Comment" Drew Rosenhaus as his agent this past season, is seeking to restructure the remainder of his rookie contract, sources told CSNPhilly.com

Two years remain on D-Jax's deal at a combined $1.025 million with roughly $800,000 in bonuses. Not too shabby for the average guy but considering what Jackson's done its way undervalue.

And, Jackson's deal actually pays him less than Jeremy Maclin currently makes.

D-Jax wasn't shy to let everyone know that he was looking for a big contract.

“I’m shooting for the top,” Jackson told the Inquirer.

Gulp.

McNabb didn’t get away from the Pro Bowl without being questioned about his future by ESPN's Michele Tafoya.

“I don’t know, but I’m still not going to answer," said a smiling McNabb. "I love Philadelphia.”

Double gulp.

Even though D-Jax and D-Mac are under contract, it looks like the front office might need to spend some green to keep these guys in green uniforms.
