Briere Added to All-Star Roster

Flyers center Danny Briere was added to the 2011 NHL All-Star roster Wednesday.

Briere replaces the Calgary Flames' Jerome Iginla, who withdrew for family reasons.

Briere will join his fellow teammate Claude Giroux and his head coach Peter Laviolette.

Lavy and the Vancouver's Alain Vigneault will co-coach one of the All-Star teams, which will be picked by captains Eric Staal and Nicklas Lindstrom.

Briere appeared in the 2007 NHL All-Star game in Dallas and was named MVP for scoring five points (one goal, four assists). He is now in his 13th season in the NHL. His team-leading 24 goals are currently tied the sixth best in hockey.

The 2011 All-Star Game weekend will be held in Carolina and beginning Friday, Jan. 28 with the NHL All-Star Fantasy Draft. The 58th annual NHL All-Star Game will take place at the RBC Center on Sunday, Jan. 30.
