As a college swimmer for the University of California, Berkeley, Cierra Runge finished second in the 500-yard freestyle at the NCAA Championships. She decided to sit out a year and train with Bob Bowman at Arizona State alongside Olympic champions Michael Phelps and Allison Schmitt. Runge qualified for the 4x200m freestyle relay at the 2016 Olympics by finishing fifth in the 200m freestyle at the U.S. Olympic Trials. And in the fall, she’ll return to college as a transfer to the University of Wisconsin.
