Flyers Keep “Car Bomb” in Orange & Black

Enforcer Dan Carcillo inks 1-year deal

The Flyers resigned some muscle Tuesday.

The Fly Guys signed enforcer Dan Carcillo to a one- year contract.

The team avoided arbitration by inking Carcillo to the deal worth a bit more than $1 million, according to CSNPhilly.com.

The 25-year-old winger had 22 points and 207 penalty minutes in 76 regular season games for the Eastern Conference champion Flyers last season.

General Manager Paul Holmgren announced the signing in a statement on Tuesday.

In the Stanley Cup playoffs, the 6-foot, 205-pound Carcillo had two goals and two assists as the Flyers advanced to the Finals, where they lost to the Chicago Blackhawks in six games. He also had a memorable overtime goal to put the Flyers up for good on the Devils in the opening round of the playoffs.

Philadelphia acquired “Car Bomb” in a March 2009 trade with the Phoenix Coyotes. Carcillo was selected in the third round by Pittsburgh in the 2003 NHL draft.

In parts of four seasons with Phoenix and Philadelphia, he has 67 points and 859 penalty minutes in 225 regular season games.
