Birds Fined $60K for Dropping the Bomb

$60,000 -- that’s the cost of having some fun in the end zone.

The NFL fined six different Eagles for taking part in an organized touchdown celebration Sunday.

Brent Celek, Alex Smith, Jamaal Jackson, Kevin Curtis, Stacy Andrews and DeSean Jackson were fined $10,000 each Wednesday for their roles in celebrating Celek’s TD, according to the Bleeding Green Nation.

Here is what ruffled the feathers of the league:

Celek scored on a nine-yard pass putting the Birds up 23-7 (pending the extra point). He handed the ball off to Jamaal Jackson who spiked the ball. A bunch of Birds encircled Jackson and some jumped up as if the pretend bomb-drop blew them back.

Anyone who hopped got slapped with a fine.

Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson got the worse of it at the time getting flagged for not only jumping back but falling to the ground during the celebration. The move cost the Birds 15 yards on the kickoff.

All the guys being fined the same amount for the celebration seemed a bit steep. But the NFL frowns on creative TD celebrating involving props or falling it seemed).

Celek planned to appeal the league’s ruling, according to the Philly Inquirer.
