Ashley Nee

Country: USA
Sport: Canoe Slalom
Date of Birth: 06/15/1989
First Olympics: 2016, Rio de Janeiro

At 10 years old, Ashley Nee began her kayak career at Valley Mill Camp in Germantown, Maryland. She never thought she'd be good with the paddle, but after a friend convinced her to give it a try, she was hooked.

A veteran U.S. national slalom team member, Nee qualified for the 2008 Beijing Games, but missed her chance for international competition due to a shoulder injury. A technical tiebreak also left her watching the 2012 London Games from home.

Nee, currently training with national team coach, Silvan Poberaj, won bronze in the women's kayak single (K1) at the 2015 Pan American Games and finished first in the K1 at the 2015 U.S. National Team Trials.

Nee has officially qualified for Olympic selection and will join Team USA in Rio, pending International Canoe Federation approval.

The former Montgomery County EMT and current kayaking instructor now resides in Bethesda, Maryland.
