Tuesday Primaries: Decisions; Wet Weather

Tuesday weather forecast will bring rain, snow, chill in some areas of Pa.

Pennsylvania's voters will pick candidates to run for president, U.S. Senate, state attorney general and a slew of other offices on a day expected to be soaked by rain and snow.

Tuesday's primary will likely help clinch the Democratic nomination for President Barack Obama and further cement Mitt Romney's status as the GOP's inevitable presidential nominee.

Meanwhile, five Republicans are running to challenge the re-election bid by Democratic U.S. Sen. Bob Casey, and Democrats Kathleen Kane and Patrick Murphy are in a heated race for the party's nomination for state attorney general.

Voters also will fill six vacant seats in special elections for the state House of Representatives and decide several heated congressional primaries, including one between Democratic incumbents Jason Altmire and Mark Critz in western Pennsylvania.

The NBC10 Weather Team is forecasting a chance of Tuesday afternoon showers in the Philadelphia area, with high’s in the 50’s after overnight showers, snow and freeze warnings in other areas of the state.

Philadelphia area voters will once again be able to turn to the Voter Protection Program sponsored by the non-partisan fair election group, Committee of Seventy. Volunteers will man a call center to help voters who have questions or difficulties on election day. The hotline number is 1-866-OUR-VOTE (1-866-687-8683).

Pennsylvania’s new voter photo identification rules will go into effect for the Nov. 6 general election.

Tuesday's Pennsylvania primary is the same day as Delaware’s Presidential-only primary and primaries in New York, Rhode Island, and Connecticut.
