Tea Party PAC Picks NJ Primary Favorites

Influential political action committee offered early support for Romney

The influential Independence Hall Tea Party PAC has named more than half a dozen candidates in Tuesday’s NJ primary election that the committee is backing.

The tri-state political action committee, which has members in Pa., NJ and Del., went on record back in January supporting former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney for the Republican presidential nomination.

After Romney’s May 30 primary win gave him more than enough delegates to win the nomination at the Republican National Convention in August, according to The Associated Press count, the committee sent a congratulatory email to the Romney campaign.

“It is a triumph--not only for the Romney Campaign--but for the conservative cause as well,” said PAC President Don Adams.

Romney address the group during a summit held in April at the Franklin Institute.

The Tea Party PAC’s Board of Delegates added Republican U.S. Senate candidate Joe Kyrillos to its list of endorsed candidates for the NJ primary. Kyrillos, a State Senator, is in a four-way race for the GOP nomination along with political newcomers David-Douglas Brown, Bader Qarmout and Rudy Rullo.

"As a conservative, Joe Kyrillos understands that in order for the economy to improve, we must stop the enormous deficit spending resulting from bailouts, pseudo stimulus programs, and the expansion of the existing government bureaucracy,” said Adams.

Kyrillos is also backed by NJ Gov. Chris Christie.

Six Republican Congressional candidates also received the PAC’s endorsement: Greg Horton in the First Congressional District; incumbent Jon Runyan in the Third District; Fourth District incumbent Chris Smith; Anna Little in the Sixth District; Dave Larsen in the Seventh District; and Erick Beck in the 12th District.

The NJ primary is being held on the same day as primaries in California, Montana, New Mexico and South Dakota and a recall election in Wisconsin.

On Tuesday, the polls in NJ will open at 6 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
