Specter Getting Heat for β€œAct Like a Lady” Remark

Sen. Arlen Specter isn't talking about it but plenty of others are.

The 79-year-old former Republican scolded Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), 53, for interrupting him on Dom Giordano's radio show Wednesday.

At one point during an exchange over the health-care bill, Specter noted that Bachmann had said she voted for prosperity.

"Well, prosperity wasn't a bill," the Pennsylvania senator began to explain.

"Well, why don't we make it a bill?" said Bachmann, talking over him.

"Now wait a minute," Specter said. "Don't interrupt me. I didn't interrupt you. Act like a lady."

A top Republican has asked for an apology, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported, and New York Times columnist Gail Collins accused Specter of having lost it.

Specter, you will remember, switched parties last year. Democrats must be asking themselves why they wanted him.

But she added that Bachmann has "a terrific talent for driving people nuts."
