Students, professors and alumni get to tell New Jersey lawmakers what they think of a plan to merge Rutgers and Rowan universities and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
A joint legislative hearing will be held at Rowan's main campus in Glassboro Monday.
Rowan would take over the Camden campus of Rutgers University, including its law school, under a plan announced by Gov. Chris Christie in January.
Rutgers would absorb parts of the scandal-tainted UMDNJ, gaining a medical school.
Many at Rutgers-Camden oppose the proposal.
Christie tangled with one detractor at a town hall event. The exchange ended with the governor calling the opponent, second-year law student William Brown, an “idiot.”
The plan likely needs legislative approval.
