Runyan Upset by Photos Taken of His Home

GOP candidate claims opponent's staffer took pics of family

A former Eagle running for public office isn’t happy about some photographs that were taken of his New Jersey home.

New Jersey police are investigating Republican congressional candidate Jon Runyan's claim that an opposition campaign volunteer harassed his family.

Runyan's wife, Loretta, went to police alleging that a man trespassed on the family's Mount Laurel property and took photos as the Runyans' 8-year-old daughter played outside, the Courier-Post of Cherry Hill reported Wednesday.

Mrs. Runyan said she followed the man to Democrat John Adler's Evesham campaign office.

"I demand today that Congressman Adler publicly apologizes to me and my family for authorizing these slimy campaign tactics," Runyan said in a statement.

Carol Gaskill, a spokeswoman for Adler's campaign, confirmed to the newspaper that a volunteer photographer did take photos of Runyan's house on Sept. 8.

In a statement e-mailed to the paper, she added: “We apologize if images of the Runyan property have brought any discomfort to Mr. and Mrs. Runyan.”

”The photographer was instructed not to take any photos of Jon Runyan or any member of his family.”
