Registration Deadline is Tuesday for NJ Voters

No ‘top of the ticket’ drama left for final half-dozen presidential primaries

NJ voters have to register by the end of the day on Tuesday, to vote in the June 5 presidential and state primary elections.

Registration forms are available at a number of state and county offices. There will also be evening registration hours, some as late as 9 p.m., in all 21 counties at local municipal clerks’ offices on Tuesday.

A list of locations and times is here.

New Jersey’s decision not to have an earlier presidential primary means state voters won’t have much say in the presidential race.

On Monday, Texas Congressman Ron Paul announced he won’t spend any more money on his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination. Paul on Monday issued a statement that insisted he would continue the fight for delegates, taking the battle to the GOP convention in Tampa.

According to the Associated Press, former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney is 171 delegates shy of the 1,144 needed to capture the nomination.

Despite suspending active campaigning, Paul, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, and former Pa. senator Rick Santorum will still be on the NJ Republican presidential ballot along with Romney.

California, Montana, New Mexico and South Dakota have primaries on June 5, the same day as NJ. Utah has the final presidential primary on June 26.
