Mayor Nutter launched a new program Monday that could help part-time workers get full-time jobs.
Through the “Philly Works” initiative, participants will develop job skills through advancement courses and career coaching.
Workers will receive paid-on the-job training and are linked with Philadelphia-based companies to get full-time work.
“What I like about Philly Works is that it recognizes that by working with one group, it creates a domino effect all throughout the workforce development community,” said Mayor during a press conference.
Philadelphia’s unemployment rate currently tops 11 percent.
