Pa. Court: No Redistricting Answers This Week

2012 state legislative primary races in question

It could be sometime next week before questions are sorted out over the now invalidated Pa. legislative district maps.

A spokesman for the Pennsylvania Supreme Court says the four-justice majority opinion that lays out why they invalidated new legislative district maps, is still several days away.

Deputy court administrator Tom Darr said Thursday that despite the delay, the justices realize it's important that they release it quickly.

Pennsylvania state lawmakers, potential candidates and political strategists find themselves needing to adapt after the bombshell ruling on Wednesday.

A three-week period to gather signatures to get on the ballot is under way. The court says current state 203 House and 50 Senate district lines remain in place until a valid new map is approved.

It's unclear whether the Legislative Reapportionment Commission will produce a new map in time for the April primary.
