Oxford Area Principal Suspended, Reason Unknown

School district not saying why principal was removed from the school

A Chester County principal was out of school Thursday after being suspended earlier in the week for undisclosed reasons.

Parents of children at Oxford Area High School were left wondering what led to the suspension of Principal Dr. David Madden.

A brief statement from district Superintendent Dr. Raymond Fisher was posted on the district website:

Dear Parents/ Guardians of the High School,

Without going into details, Dr. Madden will be out indefinitely.  In the meantime, should you have any school related questions, please contact, Mr. Taylor, Assistant Principal or Mr. Canaday, Assistant Principal.  Thank you.

On Thursday, the district would only tell NBC10 that this is a personnel matter and that they can’t say anything beyond that.

Madden’s future will now likely be decided by the school board. They have a Budget and Finance Committee meeting scheduled for tonight with the regular school board not set to meet again until mid-April.
