Obama to Penn State on Groundhog Day

Pa. visit to focus on Philly-based energy research and economic issues

President Barack Obama will visit Penn State on Feb. 2, according to college officials.

A news release says President Obama will focus on work being done at the Energy Innovation Hub at the Philadelphia Navy YardPenn State vice president for research is the principal investigator for the project.

The President doesn't plan to visit Philadelphia on this trip.

A Penn State twitter post at noon on Friday first announced that Obama would be on the University Park campus on Groundhog Day.

A Penn State official announcement was made following a White House conference call.

"Penn State is one of the places in the country focusing on energy efficiency," White House Deputy Director of Communications Jen Psaki said in a statement posted on Penn State Live.

The President is expected to go on a tour and give some remarks.

Obama is making stops at cities across the nation on his push for renewable energy technologies.
