The June 5 NJ primary election is for both Presidential and state offices.
Candidates for the Republican Presidential nomination are at the top of the ‘ticket,’ but that race will have little significance despite who wins the Garden State’s delegates. Last Tuesday, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney topped the 1,144 delegates needed to win the GOP nomination at the Republican convention in August, according to The Associated Press count.
In the race for the Republican U.S. Senate nomination, four candidates are vying for a chance to run against incumbent Democrat Sen. Bob Menendez in the fall. The contenders are State Sen. Joe Kyrillos, Bader Qarmout, Rudy Rullo and David-Douglas Brown.
There are also 13 U.S. House races covering contested seats in both parties. Special elections will determine who will represent the 10th Congressional District, succeeding the late Donald Payne, Sr., and fill the unexpired terms in three State Assembly districts.
The NJ primary is being held on the same day as primaries in California, Montana, New Mexco and South Dakota and a recall election in Wisconsin.
The polls will be open from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday in NJ.
