Wilson: I Will Not Apologize Again for “You Lie!” Outburst

"I am not apologizing again," the South Carolina Republican said

Rep. Joe Wilson said he will not apologize on the House floor for shouting "You lie!" during President Obama's health care address to Congress last week despite calls to discipline him if he does not.

"I've apologized one time. The apology was accepted by the president, the vice president. ... I am not apologizing again," Wilson told Fox News Sunday.

The South Carolina Republican said Democrats are "playing politics" by trying to pressure him into issuing a second apology for accusing Obama of lying about his reform plan during a joint session of Congress last Wednesday during an outburst that triggered a political firestorm.

Wilson's said in the interview aired Sunday that he felt "provoked" during the speech and said his outburst was akin to a "town hall moment." "I believe in the truth. What I heard was not true. I believe (the president) was misstating the facts," Wilson said.
