NJ Sen. Lautenberg Has Stomach Cancer

New Jersey Sen. Frank Lautenberg was diagnosed stomach cancer, the 86-year-old Democrat’s office said.

Doctors for the nation's second-oldest U.S. senator found B-cell lymphoma of the stomach, spokesman Caley Gray said.

The tumor is “curable” and will require treatment over the next few months, according to Lautenberg’s office.

Lautenberg will receive six to eight chemotherapy treatments, Dr. James Holland of New York City's Mount Sinai Medical Center said. The doctor expects a “full and complete recovery.”

Lautenberg was taken to the hospital Monday after his office said he fell. The office said Tuesday the senator was treated for a bleeding ulcer.
