Traffic Court Judge Flunks Required Judicial Exam

A newly elected Traffic Court judge fails required judicial education exam.

It turns out even judges can be poor test takers.

Newly elected Traffic Court Judge Christine Solomon cannot take the bench quite yet because she failed the required judicial education exam, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Solomon won a seat on the bench in November after leading a field of 14 candidates in last spring’s Democratic primary but was not sworn in on Monday with the other newly elected judges.

You don't need to have a law degree or legal experience to be elected to Traffic Court, Susan Davis, executive director of the state judiciary education panel told the paper that new judges do have to take a course and then pass a two-hour exam in order to be sworn in.

This isn’t the first time a new judge flunked the exam. In 2000, a Chester County district judge had to take the test three times.

Solomon can re-take the test on January 31.
