Gov. Christie Wants GOP Advantage

NJ governor hopeful new map for Congress will favor his party

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie his high hopes Republicans will do better when New Jersey finishes redrawing the congressional districts.

Christie says the party couldn't do worse than when the legislative districts were redrawn to favor Democrats earlier this year.

A bipartisan commission tasked with whittling New Jersey's congressional districts from 13 to 12 will be holed up at a New Brunswick hotel starting today, trading ideas for new district maps.

The results could be announced by Wednesday.

New Jersey is losing a seat in Congress because the state's population didn't grow as fast as some other states. New York, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts are also losing seats.

Christie says he hasn't been heavily involved in the process, though he is receiving updates from a political adviser.
