New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie Plans to Talk Energy in Canada

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie plans to talk about energy as he kicks off his first official trip to Canada.

The Republican governor will arrive in Calgary on Thursday morning.

He'll begin his day with a meeting with Alberta Premier Jim Prentice, then give a keynote speech at a luncheon hosted by the Calgary Chamber of Commerce and TD Bank. The event is expected to focus on the value of strengthening ties with America's neighbors and ramping up North American energy production.

Christie emphasized the same themes during his recent trip to Mexico.

The travel comes as Christie is seriously considering a 2016 presidential run.

He'll also host a round-table with energy industry executives before heading east to the province of Ontario for the second day of his brief trip.
