Former Pennsylvania governor Ed Rendell and his wife of 45 years, federal appeals court judge Marjorie "Midge" Rendell, are divorcing.
The couple has been separated since 2011.
Ed Rendell tells The Philadelphia Inquirer "it will be an amicable divorce" and says he and his soon-to-be-ex-wife are on good terms. He notes they recently traveled together to Jamaica with their son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren.
Asked why they are divorcing at this time, the 72-year-old former Philadelphia mayor says it's just something they wanted to do. [[29811939, C]]
The divorce was first reported Tuesday by Philadelphia Magazine.
