Doo-Doo Could Cost You Jail Time

Pa. town looks to crack down on cleaning up doggie deuces

Dog poop being left in the yard has some Bangor residents pretty steamed and new ordinance could work prevent that, well you know, from happening anymore -- even in the dog owner's own yard.

A new set of rules for pet owners would force them to clean up the animal waste not only on neighbor's property but on their own property within 24 hours.

“The current ordinance is old,” code enforcer Rick Fisher told The Morning Call. “People have to clean up after their dog on public property, but it didn't address another person's private property. People don't clean messes on their own property.”

Still don’t feel like cleaning up after your four-legged friend?

Not following the new ordinance could result in a $300 fine and even a trip to jail, according to Fisher.

Animals would also required to be sheltered in clean, covered spaces when outdoors. In freezing temperatures, the pets must be kept indoors.

Looks like those pooper-scoopers hiding in the back of the shed are going to be getting a lot more action. Especially in Bangor neighborhoods.
