Democratic National Convention Moves Into Temporary Home at South Philly's Wells Fargo Center

The Democratic National Convention Staff will be calling South Philadelphia home for the next five weeks.

The DNC staff held an official moving-in ceremony at the Wells Fargo Center Wednesday morning marking the official takeover of the arena.

DNC CEO Rev. Leah Daughtry was joined by vendors and convention partners to talk about what construction to be done to transform the arena – normally home to the Philadelphia 76ers, Philadelphia Flyers and Philadelphia Soul – into a political showcase ahead of the convention in late July. She praised the facility and especially the vast amount of parking at the complex.

The DNC is expected to bring thousands of visitors and millions of dollars to the Philadelphia region. The last DNC – in 2012 in Charlotte – brought in $163.6 million, according to the North Carolina city.

Former Secretary of state Hillary Clinton is expected to be named the party's nominee at during the July 25 to 28 convention. [[383747311, C]]
