NJ's Many Snow Days Will Be Made Up: Christie

Bad news for students in the Garden State hoping to have a few less school days this year.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says the state's schoolchildren will have to make up the snow days they've missed in this unusually harsh winter.

On his radio call-in show Wednesday evening on TownSqure Media, Christie said his three school-age kids have lobbied him to waive the requirement so they won't have to make up days this spring or summer.

He told a caller, β€œThere's a 180 days school requirement and I'm not waiving it.”

Many districts across the state have had five or more snow days so far this school year. Some shortened a recent winter break. Some are shortening spring break or extending the end of the school year.
