A deteriorating 80-year-old school in New Jersey's capital city is the latest backdrop in the race for governor.
Democrat Barbara Buono plans to tour dilapidated Trenton High School Thursday afternoon.
Republican Gov. Chris Christie declined to tour the school last month.
Democratic Assemblyman Reed Gusciora, who represents the district, says if Christie had visited, he would have closed it down because the building has a leaky roof, crumbling ceilings and mold-infested walls.
Christie says the Schools Development Authority has jurisdiction. But the SDA says emergency repairs are the school district's responsibility.
Gusciora says that's not feasible because the city's tax base was whittled away by numerous state, county and federal buildings.
Christie says his budget spends $9 billion on education.
Buono says she would fully fund the authority.
