Book Deal Offers for Christine O'Donnell

Christine O'Donnell may have lost the U.S. Senate race in Delaware, but it sounds like financially, she could come out a winner.

"We have a lot of opportunities from book deals, you know, that I'm exploring," O'Donnell said on The Today Show Friday morning when Meredith Vieira asked her if she'd be on the ticket again in two years.

"I honestly have no clue. I'm looking at the short term."

O'Donnell crashed-landed onto the national political scene with her September upset, beating Republican Mike Castle in the primary for Vice President Joe Biden's old senate seat. Backed by the Tea Party, O'Donnell ended up being rejected and even ridiculed by some of the power brokers in the Republican party.

"It's bruised egos. You know, it's about what we did -- bust up the back room deals, put the political process back into the hands of the people," O'Donnell said.

She blamed Karl Rove and the GOP for her ultimate loss to Democrat Chris Coons.

"...when the party didn't come out to lend their support, we had to rebuild the establishment; rebuild the network."

Her campaign spent weeks getting organized and "defending the accusations that even my own party was putting out. So it was too heavy a lift for one entity," O'Donnell said. And even thought Sarah Palin never came to campaign for her, O'Donnell said it was Palin who stepped in to do what Karl Rove should have done, "in that when the accusations, silly mischaracterizations started to fling, she helped to deflect some of that in the media, saying 'this isn't right.'"

Meredith asked O'Donnell if she was her own worst enemy, battling the quirky and controversial comments she made years ago about dabbling in witchcraft and that evolution was a myth. O'Donnell admitted running the "I Am Not a Witch" ad was a bad call, but blamed that too on the GOP:

"Well, you know, you rely on the experts and this is where the advice of the leadership comes into play. We didn't have that you know, and there were a lot of things we could have done...but I'm very proud of the things we did."

O'Donnell's not sure what her next political move will be, but along with considering "a lot of opportunities" she'll keep advocating or the people of Delaware.
