Tobey Maguire Named in Poker Ring Lawsuit

It's no secret Tobey Maguire likes to play poker - he won the Phil Hellmuth Poker Invitational in 2004 - but now the "Spider-Man" star's skills at the table have landed him in the middle of a lawsuit.

A trustee for Ruderman Capital Partners has filed the suit in an effort to retrieve $300,000 that disgraced hedge fund manager Brad Ruderman allegedly took from the fund to pay Maguire for poker losses.

Ruderman is currently in a Texas prison serving time for two counts of wire fraud and two counts of investment adviser fraud for his role in an alleged Ponzi scheme.

Acording to the filing, Maguire orchestrates "exclusive events, by invitation only" with "a regular roster of players consisting of wealthy celebrities, entrepreneurs, attorneys, and businessmen."

The blog "Poker King.com" claims such events are well known around Hollywood and poker circles as "Tobey's Games." Regular players are believed to include other well-known poker aficionados Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, and Ben Affleck.

Only Maguire was named in the suit.
