Truck Crashes on NJ Bridge, Dangles Over Hackensack River

The driver made a lucky escape, climbing out of the truck onto scaffolding

A pickup truck driver made a lucky escape after his vehicle crashed into the side of a New Jersey bridge, leaving it dangling precariously above the Hackensack River.

Police say the driver was towing a jeep on Route 46 in Little Ferry on Saturday afternoon when his brakes suddenly locked. The truck lost control and struck two cars, then crashed through the side wall of a bridge. Scaffolding from a billboard stopped the truck from plummeting.

The driver was able to climb out onto the billboard until crews pulled him to safety. He only suffered minor injuries.
