This past year marked a medley of exciting, sometimes unexpected partnerships. The biggest, of course, was the legendary house of Lanvin linking up with H&M. Fashion folk went mad for the stunning dresses, including Anna Dello Russo, who walked in the Lanvin for H&M Haute Couture show last month.

Opening Ceremony
In keeping with its French theme for 2010, Opening Ceremony created a massive Parisian flea market for Fashion's Night Out in New York, debuting a series of collaborations with agnès b., Ladurée, Patrik Ervell, Colette, Keds, and more. Some of the pieces -- like the scarves made with Paris' legendary Deyrolle taxidermy shop -- are still available online.

Erin Fetherston had a heavy task in front of her, when charged with breathing new fashion life into Juicy Couture's holiday offerings. Critics were quieted, for the most part, by the designer's festive velvet and sequined party frocks and accessories.

Cynthia Rowley was a collaboration queen in 2010, lending her hand to everything from Band-Aids to surf-chic duds for Roxy, but the jewel in the crown came in the form of diapers. Cynthia Rowley for Pampers definitely marked a first for high-fashion.

Though it was released only in Europe, Valentino for the Gap marked a new direction for the house, from which the eponymous designer recently resigned. The label's signature feminine ruffles popped up on Gap basics from jackets to pants, and we're crossing our fingers for an American edition in 2011.

Target
The year's wildest collaboration had to be Simon Doonan's Halloween Couture Salon for Target. The Barneys creative director unleashed his madcap style on a line of pop-culture-inspired costumes that topped off at $30. Our favorite was the human meatball.
