“Thor” Star Being Sought for “Snow White and The Huntsman”

The men being sought for "Snow White and the Huntsman" keep getting progressively less famous, younger and more Australian.

Chris Hemsworth, who's about to become globally famous with the release of "Thor" on Friday, is Universal's first choice to play the male title role in "Snow White and The Huntsman," opposite Kristen Stewart, reported Variety.

In the film, the Huntsman takes Snow into the woods with instructions to kill her, but has second thoughts, instead helping her make a run for it.

First Viggo Mortenson, 54, was in the cross hairs. then Hugh Jackman, 42, said No Thanks, and Joel Edgerton, 37, has been sought, and could possibly still get the part. But Hemsworth, 27 - who, like the two previous choices is from Down Under - has suddenly become the studio's first choice.

"Snow White and The Huntsman" already has Stewart aboard as Snow, and Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen. With the Huntsman options getting closer and closer to Snow's  age, it's likely that Universal may be considering a shift in the film's storyline.

There are of course possible scheduling issues, with Hemsworth committed to "The Avengers," which is due May 4, 2012. In any event, "Snow White and The Huntsman" should be here Dec. 21, 2012.
