A former teacher convicted of gunning down her boyfriend will face sentencing this week in a New Jersey courtroom.
Virginia Vertetis was found guilty of Murder in on April. The jury rejected her testimony that she had shot retired New York City police officer Patrick Gilhuley in self-defense.
Prosecutors in Morris County said Vertetis shot Gilhuley without provocation.
Vertetis is facing 30 years to life in prison when she is sentenced Tuesday.
Vertetis' attorneys will ask the judge to overturn the verdict for a new trial, saying the first trial was unfair.
