Raging Fire Engulfs Boat Marina in Belmar

No injuries were reported

A raging fire engulfed a marina in Belmar on Tuesday, and at least a dozen boats burned in the blaze, authorities said.

Social media photos and videos showed thick black smoke rising from the inferno, which the mayor tweeted was at the AP Marina on Fifth Avenue.

The mayor told NBC 4 New York the fire was under control, though still burning, as of about 1:20 p.m. No injuries were reported.

The large plume of smoke could be seen from a distance, and there was a heavy fire department response from multiple towns.

Power was cut in the area of the marina and was expected to be out for several hours.
