Mexico's No. 2 Dies in Chopper Crash

A helicopter carrying Mexican Interior Minister Francisco Blake crashed south of Mexico City on Friday, killing him and six others. Blake, 45, was traveling between Mexico City and the state of Morelos just to the south, his ministry said. The secretary of the interior oversees internal political affairs and security. Mexico is locked in a brutal conflict against drug cartels that has killed 45,000 people in the last five years and Blake is a key member of President Felipe Calderon's security team. Calderon said that weather conditions likely caused the crash, The Associated Press reports.
