Obama Campaign Rips Romney's Record

The Obama campaign jumped into the anti-Mitt Romney fray Friday, issuing a lengthy memo that ripped the former Massachusetts governor’s job creation narrative. It rejected Romney’s claim to have created more than 100,000 jobs while heading private equity firm Bain Capital, and painted a distinct contrast between the GOP candidate and President Obama. “President Obama … began his career helping jobless workers in the shadow of a closed-down steel mill. Mitt Romney, on the other hand, made millions closing down steel mills.” The memo was aimed at voters in South Carolina where the presidential candidate was campaigning ahead of the state’s Jan. 21 election. At a rally in the Palmetto State Friday, Romney said he was “concerned about the poor” and “will work to get good jobs back” by “hold[ing] fast to [the free market] system.”
