Latino Voters: Low Turnout, Less Support for Democrats

Preliminary exit polls show that Latinos sat out this election despite being targeted by both parties, NBC News reported. Hispanic voters made up only 8 percent of voters this year, compared to 10 percent in 2012. Also, Democrats did not garner the support they were hoping to get from the community. While 71 percent voted for Obama in 2012, Hispanics voted for Democrats by a margin of 28 percent this year, NBC News reported. But even before the election results were completely clear, immigration advocates were blaming the Democratic party's downfall on President Barack Obama’s delay of action on the issue.
