Facebook is the latest high-profile company to disclose that it had been targeted by a "sophisticated" hacking attempt. The attempt, the company announced Friday, was made in January, though no user data had been compromised. The company said in a blog post that suspicious activity was noted on Facebook's internal networks and traced back to several laptops belonging to employees who had visited an infected site. The laptops, which were "fully-patched and running up-to-date anti-virus software," were remedied, the company said. "We have found no evidence that Facebook user data was compromised," the company said. The New York Times and the Wall Street Journal had also announced recently that they too had been targeted by hackers.
