Natalie Portman: “I Didn't Touch Pot Till My 20's”

When it comes to the Hollywood world of partying, Natalie Portman told the January issue of Marie Claire that she was a late bloomer.

"I didn't really go to high school parties," she told the mag. "I didn't touch pot till I was in my 20s. I didn't get flat-out drunk until I went to college. But I think that's a good thing in many ways."

The busy star has stayed grounded enough to become one of the hardest working actresses in showbiz – her latest film, "Brothers," opens on December 4, and in recent months she's wrapped one film (medieval drug comedy "Your Highness"), started another (Darren Aronofsky's "Black Swan") and lined up a likely blockbuster with Marvel comic book adaptation "Thor."

She's made it a point to work with a number of directors, rather than be one helmer's muse.

"I have a problem with museship," she told the mag. "I feel like throughout history, it's been men vampiring on women's specialness. And why do that for someone? Maybe it's fear of intimacy or something!"

The single star said she relies on friends for her own inspiration, including "Parks and Recreation" star Rashida Jones.

"[She] would fight beasts 10 times her size to protect the people she loves," Natalie said of Rashida. "She is the kind of friend who can sub in and love you through the times when you can't necessarily love yourself."

However, one person Natalie will get intimate with is "Black Swan" co-star Mila Kunis, whom she has an intense sex scene with in the upcoming film.

In a separate interview with BlackBook, Mila weighed in on the scene – news of which rocked Internet fan sites.

"She's a nerd's idea of heaven," Mila said. "It's two girls making out, and guys have a thing for that. And Nat is like every guy's dream… The whole thing is silly, but I can see why people care."
