Mom Pleads Guilty in Disabled Daughter's Death

A Southern New Jersey woman has pleaded guilty in the death of her disabled adult daughter, whose decomposed remains were found in the home they shared.

Janet Wilson of Manchester Township pleaded guilty Thursday to second degree manslaughter charges in the death of her 32-year-old daughter, Rebecca Wilson, who authorities say was homebound and dependent on her mother for care.

Ocean County prosecutors say Wilson has been in custody since she was arrested in a Reno, Nevada hotel room last June and brought back to New Jersey to face charges.

Authorities say Wilson did not report her daughter's death to federal officials and was still getting her daughter's disability checks when police responded last May to reports of a strange odor at their residence and discovered Rebecca Wilson's body.

Under the terms of the guilty plea, Wilson will be treated as a third degree offender and will serve between three and five years in New Jersey State Prison. She will also be required to serve a three-year parole period following her incarceration.
