Melina Kanakaredes is closing the book on “CSI:NY” just weeks before production is set to begin on the show's seventh season.
"I made some amazing and lifelong friendships during my six seasons on CSI: NY, and I will treasure them forever!" Kanakaredes told ET.

CBS and the network’s TV studio unit said in a joint statement they had hoped Kanakaredes would return for another season but “we respect her decision to move on.”
“Her amazing talent and invaluable contribution to the success of the series are greatly appreciated and will not be forgotten,” the network said.
“CSI: NY” is set to begin production July 28 on season seven, which will air in the fall.
