Police said Farley learned about the scheme through her publicist, who received a phone call from Lippolis demanding the money.
Following the arrest, Farley thanked the police department and Ocean County Prosecutor's Office "for their professionalism, expedited response time and unwavering attention to detail that resulted in an immediate arrest after I was the target of a serious crime," in a statement to Entertainment Tonight.
"While I am unable to comment any further in light of the ongoing investigation, I offer to you that I will share more once this matter is concluded, but in the meantime ask that you please respect the private nature of these legal matters so that the authorities may properly conduct their business operations," she added.
In the past, Lippolis has said he was more than just a boyfriend. Back in 2010, the ex-boyfriend and former manager of Farley sued the reality star for allegedly cheating him out of his profit. It's not clear how the case concluded.
