If you read yesterday's Glam Slam, you're probably already rocking Jennifer Aniston's Oscar Glow and Angelina Jolie's perfectly nude pout! But now that you've got their makeup routines down pat, it's time to complete the package by copying their tresses. After all, imitation is the highest form of flattery, right girls?
That's where Frederic Fekkai Celebrity Stylist Renato Campora comes in! He was Kate Winslet's mane man on Oscar night and says, "The inspiration came from Grace Kelly. I wanted to give her hair that was slick, elegant and modern." While that sophisticated look may be hard to recreate at home, Jen and Angie's are a little more user friendly… so we asked Renato for tips on how to achieve their award worthy locks.
U.S. & World
Stories that affect your life across the U.S. and around the world.
"It is a very nice look and it's not too over done."
The key to any good style is building a good foundation, so Renato preps the hair with Fekkai's All Day Density Mousse. "You can even apply on dry hair cause it dries very fast." Comb through the mousse and then use a blow dryer to activate it and create fullness.
The highlight of Jen's Oscar look was, of course, the darling french braid in the front! Renato says it's easy to do! Just part the hair to the side, separate in three small sections and braid it… folding in a little more hair as you go. A good tip, tease the end of the braid with a comb to help it hold before fastening with a bobby pin.
Next, use a curling iron to create loose ringlets and then run your fingers through the curls to get those beachy waves. Lock in that surfer girl shine with a little Fekkai Glossing Sheer Shine Mist, "it's very light and doesn't make your hair greasy, so it makes a big difference." So does having a beautiful beaded Valentino gown and John Mayer on your arm, but I digress.
If you've got a face like Angelina Jolie, you definitely want to show it off! Her sexy half-up and half-down do did just that and provided the perfect way to show off those gorgeous 115 carat emerald earrings by Lorraine Schwartz.
Renato once again begins by applying lots of Fekkai All Day Density Mousse to the hair to create volume and texture. Then it's important not to skip a thorough blow-dry. "I want to make sure that I can control the waves so that I can direct the hair in different direction. That's why you need to do a blow-dry first to give it direction and base."
Next, use a curling iron to create waves but leave the ends out so the hair doesn't get too curly. Pin each curl to your head and let it sit a few minutes to cool. While you're waiting, apply a product like Fekkai's Coiff Bouffant Lifting and Texturizing Spray Gel to the crown and tease from the underneath. "You don't wanna see the tease," Renato cautions.
Next, let the pin curls down and finger comb to get Angelina's loose waves. Then pull back the top section, twist and pin! Another Renato tip… be sure to use your fingers to pull it back. If you use a brush or comb, it will look too polished. Finish the look and make it last with Fekkai Sheer Hold Hairspray… and voila! You're Angelina! Elie Saab gown and Brad Pitt not included.
