School Says Dad Can't Use Lawn Mower to Pick Up Kids

A Pennsylvania dad is no longer allowed to use his lawn mower to pick his daughters up from school due to safety concerns from school officials.

Christopher Malloy of Montgomery County said he picked his daughter up from Fort Washington Elementary School in his lawn mower with a cart and wagon attached.

"He was very excited about it and he said most of the people there were really happy," said Christopher's wife, Melissa Malloy. "They thought it was really cute but there was one person who said, 'You have to go! This is dangerous!'"

Melissa told NBC10 the principal of the school sent them an email soon after.

"[The letter said] for me to let my husband know they wanted to stick to traditional methods of pickup in car line," she said.

The school superintendent later told NBC10 Malloy was driving the lawn mower during a busy time of day when there was a lot of traffic and they were "concerned about student safety."

While they were disappointed, the Malloy family told NBC10 they would no longer use the special ride to pick up their kids.
