In the new show, Cox plays an attractive, newly single 40-year-old mom, with a 17-year-old son.

“Cougar Town” comes from the mind of Bill Lawrence, who also created “Scrubs.”

“Forty-year-old women on TV are so beautiful and perfect and wrinkle-free,” Lawrence told The Hollywood Reporter. “People don’t do the reality of it, and there is a real comedy area about a woman who is talking about Botox, about having sex with the lights on and how her body is changing.”

Trump claims crime rates are soaring. The numbers indicate otherwise.

In fact, it’s a reunion of sorts for Lawrence and Cox, who also worked together on “Friends” when Lawrence was a writer for the classic NBC show.

However, the new project isn’t the first time these two have paired up since “Friends” ended. Cox recently wrapped production on a guest appearance on “Scrubs.”

Besides starring in the new show, the 44-year-old Cox will also executive produce alongside Lawrence.

“Cougar Town” would mark Cox’s return to primetime TV after her FX series, “Dirt,” was canceled earlier this year.

Production on “Cougar Town” is scheduled to begin in early January 2009, for a possible midseason launch.
