Leonardo DiCaprio is one of Hollywood's most vocal environmentalists. When he finally won an Oscar in 2016, he used his acceptance speech to advocate for action to combat climate change. Years earlier, DiCaprio leveraged his stardom to help produce a climate change documentary called "The 11th Hour." His foundation, established in 1998, provides grants for conservation projects. The foundation works on environmental and humanitarian issues on land, oceans and species conservation, climate change and disaster relief.

Robert Redford has used his celebrity for green advocacy for decades, lobbying for the Clean Air and Water acts in the 1970s and organizing international conferences for climate action in the 1980s. More recently, he was named as “Hero of the Environment” by Time Magazine and was honored with by Duke University with the LEAF award (Lifetime Environmental Achievement in the Fine Arts). He also produced the TV program “The Green,” which discusses issues such as wilderness preservation and solar energy.
